A great entrepreneur must have a great idea, but he should also have the leadership qualities to bring his idea to life. Finding an exceptional idea is rare enough, the capability of executing that idea fruitfully is what separates the business leaders from the dreamers.
Here are some key qualities that I think every good leader should have and learn to emphasise.
1.Employ people who will challenge you and question your assumptions.
Healthy tension is important to the success of the team. It breeds a culture of using facts to back ideas to convince your team, instead of relying on opinions.
2. Surround yourself with great people who have different skill sets and different personalities than you.
Create a culture filled with energy and passion. Never forget, the most innovative ideas rarely come from management. Give people freedom and responsibility to be innovative within a framework that allows them to go the extra mile.
3. Never stop moving!
As we all know, a start-up business takes a lot of energy. Imagine how much energy and resource is needed to push a large organisation forward. It is all about momentum and you need to keep it moving forward in any economic climate.
4. Never stop dreaming and never stop working.
As the famous quote goes, ‘the harder I work the luckier I get’. Success is not a given, it is earned through hard work.
5. Don't give up!
