Transguard Celebrates 4,000+ Employees with Outdoor Carnival

Share:

Dubai, UAE, 16 September 2022 – In an event more than three years in the making, business solutions provider Transguard Group recently hosted a massive day out for more than 4,000 of its site-based employees. Held at the Etisalat Academy Sports and Leisure Club, the Carnival included games, rides, an impressive roster of international performers, a wide selection of food and great prizes.

“The turnout for the Carnival was fantastic and the enthusiasm throughout the business has been wonderful to see,” said Nick Beer, Chief Financial Officer, Transguard Group. “We’ve made a lot of improvements to past editions of the Carnival, especially in terms of sustainability and the level of engagement from our HQ employees. Based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve received across the business the Carnival was an all-around success.”

The Carnival’s sustainability focus was apparent on multiple levels, including digital registration (which replaced paper wristbands), reusable water bottles (which avoided more than 40kg of plastic), biodegradable plates and utensils and the recycling of raffle tickets. In addition, more than 130 HQ employees volunteered their time and talent to ensure the smooth set up and organization of the event.

“This edition of the Carnival was a true group effort,” explained Lena ter Laare, Director-Marketing and CSR. “Every moment of the day was filled with our HQ staff pitching in and helping out, all because they wanted our site-based colleagues to enjoy themselves. We have always said that CSR is in Transguard’s DNA, and this truth was front and centre during Carnival.”

Attendees were provided with free transportation from all across the UAE to attend the event, including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Ras al Khaimah. Entertainment during the day included the winners of Transguard’s most recent internal talent shows, as well as performances by professional international dance troupes; attendees were also invited on stage to be a part of multiple drumming sessions. Sponsors of the event included Instant Cash, Excellence Driving School and TouchMate, each of whom gave away spectacular prizes including tech gadgets, a television and even a driving course. The final highlight of the day was a raffle draw hosted by Transguard’s Leadership Team that awarded 22 lucky winner with AED500 each.

The next edition of the Transguard Carnival is scheduled for November 2023.

Transguard Group Opens Dedicated Fitness Facility for Female Employees

Dubai, UAE, 16 September 2022 – As part of its 360-degree approach to employee wellbeing, Transguard Group is pleased to announce the opening of its 13th fitness facility.

Located in Jebel Ali, the gym is Transguard’s first such facility for females and it is fully equipped with all of the essentials, including a multi gym machine, treadmill, stationary bicycles and free weights.

“Exercise is key to more than just physical health; I know from my own experience that it also has a significant positive impact on mental health,” explains Lena ter Laare, Director of Marketing and CSR, Transguard Group. “Opening this gym for our female site-based colleagues is an active demonstration of our ongoing commitment to supporting our happy, healthy workforce.”

The inauguration event was attended by Transguard’s senior management, site-based and office staff. The ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by a workout session led by physical trainer Paul Alam. At the new gym, site-based staff can also benefit from complimentary self-defence and Zumba classes that will be conducted on a regular basis.

The opening of the gym is one of many on-going initiatives devoted to women’s wellness within the company: As part of a new programme promoting menstrual health and hygiene, Transguard has also recently begun providing free sanitary napkins to all site-based female employees. “We have been greatly inspired by the multiple global movements that seek to eliminate ‘period poverty,’” says Miriam Treacy, Head of Legal, Transguard Group. “Because we believe that access to menstruation products is a basic human right, we are now giving away more than 1,700 menstrual products to our female employees each month.”

“Under this initiative, we hope to set an even higher standard for employee welfare,” says ter Laare, adding, “It also sends a very clear message to anyone seeking a career with Transguard: We care about our employees and will go above and beyond to ensure a safe and healthy environment in which to live and work.”

Throughout the month of October, Transguard has provided plentiful opportunities for both office and site-based staff to educate themselves on breast cancer and the importance of early detection. These include breast cancer awareness talks with specialist doctors and surgeons, free medical check-ups, as well as discounted rates for mammograms.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The UAE’s leading business solutions provider Transguard Group today officially inaugurated a new 270 square metre medical facility in its largest accommodation in Jebel Ali.

Strategically located at Transguard’s Jebel Ali 7 residence, the 10-bed clinic is open from 9am to 5pm and is staffed by male and female medical professionals who speak a variety of languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Nepalese, Arabic, Urdu and more. Facilities in the new clinic also include an x-ray room, pharmacy and other dedicated specialist spaces.

“Jebel Ali is home to a large percentage of our site-based colleagues and providing convenient medical care, where and when they need it, has long been a priority,” stated Saeed Al Marzouqi, Acting Managing Director, Transguard Group. “This new clinic allows us to bring another convenient medical point of care directly to our staff, which allows us an immediate opportunity to meet their needs.”

Transguard opened its first primary care clinic in March 2021. In addition to basic medical assessments and other tests, the in-house medical facilities at this location include a long-term care facility for more serious conditions and illnesses. A regular shuttle bus between Transguard’s Jebel Ali accommodations also provides free transportation to and from both clinics. Transguard Group Reveals Upskilling of
More than 35,000 Employees

Share:

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Leading business solutions provider Transguard Group has revealed that four years after launching its Centre of Excellence, more than 35,000 employees have so far received cross-platform training and upskilling opportunities.

“Our purpose-built Centre of Excellence is the heart of our training programme, and key among its initiatives is continual cross-training for our site-based employees,” says Greg Ward, Managing Director. “Offering every member of our team an equal opportunity to grow their career is a cornerstone of our human resources strategy; empowering our employees with diversified skill sets enables us to better serve the UAE.”

Multi-skill training takes place across the entire business, particularly in Transguard’s manpower and aviation divisions, where more than 11,000 and 4,000 employees respectively have completed courses in a diverse array of subjects, including technical skills, customer service and others.

“Offering multi-skill training in other disciplines opens up new career pathways for our workforce. We have a gratifying number of employees who join us in entry level positions but work their way up to more skilled roles, both at site and in our headquarters. For example, employees who join us as unskilled labour can take our free skills training and English courses and eventually qualify to join the ‘Fix’ team of Transguard Living, our consumer home services division,” Ward explains. “With an incredibly broad training programme that applies across all of our business units, this is just one among many upskilling opportunities that we offer our employees.”

Most notable was Transguard’s continued focus on training even during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, when more than 1,500 employees from across the business were specifically cross-trained in Facilities Management to help support the company’s disinfection and sanitization programme. In addition, 60 former Housekeepers have recently transitioned onto Transguard’s Security team after completing their SIRA certification and Transguard’s own rigorous training programme.

“The need to pivot and adapt during the global pandemic was not unique to Transguard, but we are exceptionally proud of the fact that during this time we safely cross-trained more than 5,000 employees to better support the country’s recovery,” Ward concludes. “Particularly with high-profile events like Expo 2020 Dubai on the very near horizon, our team is more than prepared to continually set the bar for business excellence, customer satisfaction and passionate support for the UAE.”

Transguard Group Pilots Health Seminars for its Site-Based Employees

More than 1,000 employees of the business solutions provider have attended the free sessions since the programme’s launch earlier this year

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Leading business solutions provider Transguard Group has revealed that a new health initiative aimed at proactively educating its site-based employees has so far impacted more than 1,000 employees since its inception in May 2021.

“Caring for our healthy, happy workforce is the cornerstone of our success,” said Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard Group. “It has been exceptionally gratifying to see how well the sessions are being received.”

The concept is simple but effective: A team of Transguard medical professionals holds regular seminars on a wide range of topics in the company’s accommodations, including how to manage lower back pain and gastric problems as well as common health complaints for both males and females, as well as other common issues. The free sessions have so far been held in four of Transguard’s largest accommodations and generally last for about an hour, including a question and answer session that allows attendees to pursue additional details on the topics covered. Free eye check-ups are also on offer.

So far, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from both employees and senior management: “These sessions give our employees immediate access to information they may not know how to seek out on their own,” Ward points out, adding that “we’re proud that we’ve taken the initiative to proactively provide these opportunities as yet another demonstration that we are fully dedicated to upholding our duty of care for our employees.”

In addition to future health seminars being planned across other Transguard accommodations, a second dedicated medical facility in Jebel Ali is expected to open before the end of the year.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Thanks to a dedicated in-house team working around the clock and through weekends and holidays, Transguard Group is pleased to announce that as of today, all eligible employees in its management offices have either been fully vaccinated or are in line to receive their second jab.

“Five months ago today we announced our first vaccination milestone, which was the provision of vaccines for 16,000 employees; three months later we announced that we had successfully provided more than 60,000 vaccinations for our employees,” explains Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard Group. “Today, I am pleased to reveal that 100% of Transguard HQ employees are in the vaccination process, with 94% of our eligible site-based staff also fully vaccinated, with the remainder scheduled for their final shots over the next few weeks.”

All of the nearly 700 management staff in Transguard headquarters were also granted time off for vaccination appointments. Employees who do not meet the vaccination eligibility criteria, including those who are pregnant and those with specific allergies, are taking PCR tests every two weeks as required by recent government mandates.

“Each of our service lines, including but certainly not limited to Security, Hospitality, Facilities Management and Workforce Solutions will play a significant role in a number of high profile events in the second half of the year, so it is within our duty of care to proactively ensure that we do everything we can to protect our employees, the people of the UAE and the anticipated influx of overseas visitors,” Ward concluded. “That said, we are under no illusions that the pandemic is over and will continue to be vigilant and innovative in our Covid-19 prevention activities in our headquarters, our accommodations and on our worksites.”

In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the business solutions provider announces pink masks and the return of its iconic branded pink bus

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – In 2019, Transguard Group literally “drove” awareness of breast cancer with the launch of its iconic pink bus; this year, the business solutions provider has announced several creative new initiatives aimed at reaching even more of its own employees, as well as residents of Dubai with the vital health message.

“Breast cancer has had a direct impact on many of us in Transguard and in the world,” said Greg Ward, Managing Director. “That’s why we’ve expanded the scope of this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness campaign to include not only our pink bus but also some highly visible initiatives for both our management and site-based employees.”

As of 7th October, Transguard’s pink bus will once again take to the roads of Dubai to spread its unmistakable awareness message among drivers and passengers alike. What’s more, all men and women in headquarters were presented with branded, reusable, triple layer pink masks, which they are encouraged to wear throughout the month in their socially distanced workspaces. For Transguard’s female site-based employees the awareness drive includes informational flyers, virtual health seminars, breast cancer awareness-themed water bottles, pink cupcakes and more.

Transguard Hosts 5,000 Employees at Carnival

Transguard Group also recycles 35 kg of plastic bottles during its biannual event

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Another impressive Transguard Carnival is in the books for Transguard Group, as the company hosted 5,000 employees at its biannual event, which was held at Dubai’s Etisalat Academy Sports and Leisure Club, on Friday, 8 November.

“Transguard Carnival is one of my favourite staff events as it allows both site-based and HQ-based employees to come together outside of their duties and to enjoy a fun-filled day as a group,” said Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard Group. “By gathering like this twice a year we’re able to celebrate our successes from the past six months and to boost employee morale, further fostering our ‘one team’ culture.”

Employees enjoyed an afternoon full of live entertainment and activities, such as giant inflatables, a mechanical rodeo and fairground games. At the main stage, employees cheered for an impressive range of performances throughout the day, including Bollywood-inspired dances, as well as raffle draws for smart phones, LED televisions, passes to major UAE attractions and other exciting prizes. A fiercely competitive inter-accommodation football championship also took place throughout the day.

The culmination of the Transguard Carnival was the grand finale of TG’s Got Talent, which saw nine of Transguard’s most talented site-based dancers and vocalists give their all in hopes of being crowned this year’s winner by a judging panel comprised of senior management. The honours went to Mary Wangari, who wowed the judges with her rendition of I Don’t Want to be The Same.

This year’s Carnival also featured a health tent, where employees had the opportunity to check their blood pressure, BMI and other vital statistics; a recycling station also collected more than 35 kg of plastic bottles during the event.

“While championed by our CSR team, the Transguard Carnival is fuelled by volunteers, and this year 154 employees from our headquarters pitched in to handle everything from set-up, food distribution and check-in to prize giving, refreshment stations, game stalls, wristband distribution and more. Their efforts are a prime example of how CSR and welfare are a part of Transguard’s DNA,” concluded Ward. “I look forward to an even bigger turnout in terms of attendees and volunteers at next year’s event.”

Transguard Group is utilising a pink bus to spread awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Have you seen a pink bus driving around Dubai? Transguard Group, the country’s leading business support and outsourcing provider, is marking Breast Cancer Awareness month by wrapping one of its transport buses pink and driving it around Dubai to spread awareness about the health campaign.

“As an employer of 70,000+, our employees’ health and wellbeing is of the utmost importance to us, which is why we offer a steady rotation of wellbeing programmes in both our accommodations and headquarters,” said Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard Group. “With an awareness drive in both our male and female accommodations, as well as a number of specific activations for the women of Transguard, we’re doing our part to educate all of our employees on the importance of early detection, prevention and treatment of breast cancer.”

In addition to the pink bus, Transguard Group is holding internal educational awareness sessions for its headquarters and site-based employees throughout the month of October to highlight the initiative. These “Pink Parties” include awareness sessions paired with a comedy-movie night at Transguard’s offices and accommodations; the pink bus will also carry volunteer doctors from Al Madallah, Aster Clinic, AXA, Medeor Hospital, NMC Hospital, Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital and Zulekha Hospital to each event, where awareness sessions and health screens will round off the evening.

“While health awareness sessions on a variety of topics are regularly on offer throughout our accommodations and offices, this month we wanted to spread awareness not only among Transguard employees, but also among the people of Dubai,” said Lena ter Laare, Director, Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility. “Breast cancer can be an uncomfortable subject to discuss, particularly in this region and especially among our mostly male workforce. By transforming one of our regular buses into a pink conversation starter, we’re hoping to trigger important health discussions between husbands and wives, sons and mothers, and brothers and sisters – within our company and on the roads of the emirate we call home.”

The campaign will also be regularly featured on Transguard’s social media handles with the hashtag #tgpinkbus.

The bus will make stops at Transguard’s headquarters offices and accommodations in Dubai.

Transguard Group Builds its Legacy from Within

Share:

Underscoring its ongoing commitment to nurture its future success from within, Transguard Group has revealed that nearly 90% of its internal promotions during the 2018-2019 financial year were awarded to employees who completed training at the company’s Centre of Excellence (COE). Of the 2,436 employees who were promoted, more than 2,100 completed either job-specific or English-enhancement training at the 38,000 square foot Dubai Investments Park facility.

“Promoting from within is a common-sense strategy for us for one simple reason: Our people are our strength,” explained Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard Group. “Giving our employees the opportunity to expand their skillsets and abilities benefits the entire business and upskilling ambitious team members means that we’re embedding tomorrow’s leaders in the company today. The COE is an integral part of the process of preparing someone for the next step in their career development at Transguard.”

Over the course of the last financial year, an impressive 55% of all open positions were filled by internal staff members who were qualified for and promoted into new roles. The beginning of the new financial year seems set to surpass this number, with 60% of all open roles being filled via internal promotions in June 2019 alone.

“This visible career ladder gives every employee of Transguard Group, from site-based staff to senior management, a clear view of how they can grow within the business,” said Catherine Masters, Senior Director – Aviation and Centre of Excellence. “Upskilling our employees through the COE allows us to promote and retain our best workers while lowering recruitment costs and increasing employee motivation and engagement, all of which lead to an empowered workforce and a happy customer base.”

Opened in 2017, Transguard’s Centre of Excellence facility has carried out over 800,000 hours of training for its employees with more than 170 courses in purpose-built classrooms, from administration skills and project management skills, to technical skills such as MEP and construction, as well as English classes at all levels to all its 65,000+ employees.
